IPR, Ghana Organises Annual Summit and Awards Excellence

The Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana, has held its 7th Annual Summit comprising a conference, 31st AGM and Excellence Awards at Takoradi’s Western Serene Hotel from 14th – 15th November 2025. The summit brought together different generations of Public Relations Practitioners from across the country.

The event began with a conference on the afternoon of Thursday, 14th November 2025 with Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhen of the Essikado traditional area and President of the Western Region House of Chiefs as key note speaker. In a stirring address, Nana encouraged Public Relations professionals to ground their work in authentic values and national consciousness, stating: “Communication is not just about sharing information — it is about shaping consciousness, identity, and destiny. Whoever controls the image controls the future. As communicators, our responsibility is to ground our work in our own values, protect the minds of our people, and use our craft to build unity, not division.” Morning of Friday, 15th November saw members of the institute come together to review the operations of the institute in the past year. Giving account of the work of the Institute, President of IPR Ghana, Esther A.N. Cobbah, FIPR said “While the core principles of Public Relations endure, our world is shifting. We must rethink our approaches, honour our ethical responsibility, and evolve our capabilities to meet the needs of our time. The relevance of our profession depends on our ability to respond with integrity, creativity, and purpose to the realities of our national and global contexts.”

A total of 155 newly qualified members were also formally inducted into the Associate, Intermediate, and Accredited membership categories of the Institute.

The evening of 15th November was dedicated to honouring excellence in Public Relations.

Ahead of the Excellence Awards, the Institute held Legends Night, where Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, FIPR, was celebrated as the Legend and honoured for his contributions to the profession. In his reflections, he emphasised the power of authenticity and courage, noting:

“Many hesitate to show who they truly are, yet real growth begins when we embrace our identity and speak boldly about our ideas. Authenticity, courage and consistency are what build credibility and influence.” It was a night that showcased not just outstanding campaigns, but the creativity, discipline, and strategic insight that continue to shape the future of communication in Ghana. This year’s submissions reflected a refined level of professionalis —demonstrating clarity of strategy, purpose-driven execution, and measurable impact across sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Adiki O. Ayitevie, Chair of the Professional Awards Committee, commended the depth and quality of entries, stating: “The work reviewed this year demonstrates the maturity of our profession.
